It struck me today , on the memorial of Pearl Harbor, how we trivialize the word war, like we do with so many other words, so we can misappropriate them for things like the War on Christmas.

They’re both wars are they not?

Think about the horrors of Pearl Harbor , on this day 71 years ago, to the horrors of  Christmas on this day. Think about what war really means for the fours years ahead from Dec 7th, 1941 to your war of the eighteen days ahead as you pace the malls and public places always vigilant of the war on Christmas all around you. Think about ducking a bullet as you hit Normandy Beach versus ducking a ‘Happy Holidays’ sign as you grab that new LED TV.

Did a well meaning person just wish me ‘Happy Holidays’!?

Oh, the horror.

The horror.

War truly is hell.
